Our technology courses provide our students with a broad overview of key technological concepts. High school students learn about the technology related to the environment, medicine, biotechnology, transportation, and problem-solving in a computer- and Internet-intensive, Project-Based Learning (PBL) course. They gain hands-on experience creating brochures, posters, presentations, and video documentaries and will become well versed in iPad use. Middle school students, meanwhile, will be prepared for more rigorous high school technology courses as they review the Microsoft Office suite and begin to understand advanced functions. Eighth graders will explore cross-curricular aspects of technology, as well as the design cycle and strategies for solving design problems. This year, students will create and explore blogs as they become “global communicators.” All curriculum is based on International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards, designed to: foster creativity and innovation; promote communication and collaboration; grow research fluency; and enhance critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. Students will become well versed in iPad use, understanding its functionality in school while learning about Internet safety and ways to both gain access to credible knowledge and apply that knowledge in school, on the job, and beyond.
